The delights of 1976 hand-bottled cask strength Ardbeg
(Brochure front cover)
1976 Ardbeg
All the elements in perfect balance
(Inside front cover)
To celebrate the inauguration of The Committee - a hand bottling of 1976 Ardbeg.
Any hand bottling at Ardbeg Distillery is a rare event. This one marks the launch of the Committee and the way in which it has caught the imagination of Ardbeg lovers all over the world. We have selected two 1976 sherry butts exclusively for members. These butts have exceptional character. The hand bottling is at cask strength and non chill-filtered for greater flavour. Moreover, each bottle has an individually numbered Limited Edition label signed by The Chairman of The Ardbeg Committee.
As the Tasting Notes expound overleaf, these are enormous whiskies. Expect an astonishing complexity of aromas and tastes, and yet - typically Ardbeg - a spirit that is harmoniously and perfectly balanced. Just like the Distillery itself, we hope your bottle will stay open at all times - ' though, given the price, clearly not to be consumed on a daily basis.
MISSION STATEMENT
It's a quirky fact that Islay, with a population of just 3,000, has more than 140 Committees. So in keeping with the whisky-celebrating spirit of the island, we have established our own Ardbeg Committee here at the Distillery. No matter how near or far, our members share a common purpose: to celebrate the re-awakening of Ardbeg and dispense drams to those deprived of knowledge about The Ultimate Islay Malt Whisky.
